Start from the goal — a home, education, a car, a milestone — and work backwards to the monthly SIP that reaches it.
Illustrative projection using the assumptions you entered. Market returns are not guaranteed; actual results will differ. This is an educational tool, not financial advice.
Goal-based investing flips the usual question. Instead of asking "what will my SIP become?", you ask "what SIP does my goal need?" Enter the amount your goal will cost when you reach it, the years you have, and a realistic return assumption — the planner converts it into a monthly SIP.
Two lessons hide in the numbers. First, time is leverage: doubling the years rarely doubles the goal, but it can cut the required SIP by much more than half, because compounding does the heavy lifting late in the journey. Second, the target must be the future cost — if a goal costs ₹20 lakh today and is 12 years away, at 6% inflation it will cost about ₹40 lakh then. Use our Inflation Calculator first, then plan for the inflated target here.
Give each major goal its own SIP and fund choice — short goals in safer options, long goals in equity — and review the plan yearly as income and goals change.
